Why We Built STATZO

STATZO isn’t the creation of a big tech company. It was founded and self-published by Sarah and Lloyd, two grassroots football parents and lifelong football fans who saw the same problem so many others face: there wasn’t a simple, fun, and reliable way to track football stats at the grassroots level.

• Sarah’s son Alfie is 8 years old and plays as a winger. Like many parents, she wanted a way to capture every match, every goal, and every memory of his football journey.

• Lloyd has two daughters: Grace (14), who plays as a defender, and Skye (16), who prefers dance to football. Lloyd himself has been playing football all his life and still enjoys a weekly (and much more competitive than it should be) kickabout with friends.

Between them, they realised there was no app that truly helped players track their own performances like professionals while also letting parents and managers record the key moments that make grassroots football so special.

That’s how STATZO was born.

 

Over a Year in the Making

STATZO has been over 12 months in development, with more 124 builds tested before arriving in the app stores. We’re not developers by trade – we’ve self-funded and built STATZO (with the help of a development team), driven purely by our passion for football and our belief that grassroots deserves better tools.

The result is an app we’re genuinely proud of. Early beta testers have already given us fantastic feedback, saying how easy STATZO is to use and how rewarding it feels to look back over their stats, performances, and memories.

And now, after all the work, it’s live for everyone.
